STRtax is operated by Rental Books LLC (“STRtax,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use the STRtax application and visit strtax.app. We’ve written it to be plain and honest.
Information you provide
To use STRtax, you create an account with an email address. Within the app, you enter records related to your short-term rental, which may include:
- Property details (such as address and basic property information)
- Income data imported from Airbnb or VRBO earnings files
- Expenses and mileage you record
- Receipt photos you capture using your device’s camera or select from your photo library
- Personal-use and rental-use day counts
This information is yours. We use it solely to provide the app’s features — organizing your records and generating your report.
How your data is stored
Your account and records are stored securely using our cloud database provider (Supabase) so your data syncs across your devices. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS). Receipt photos are stored in secure cloud storage. Access to your records is restricted to your account.
How we use your information
- To operate core features: importing income, logging expenses and mileage, and generating your CPA-ready PDF report
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To respond to support requests you send us
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your rental records for advertising.
Payments
If you purchase a subscription, payment is processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect or store your payment card details. Subscription status is managed through our payments provider (RevenueCat) and Apple. Web-based subscriptions, where available, are processed through authorized third-party payment processors. We do not collect or store your payment card details for these transactions either.
Third-party services
STRtax relies on a small number of service providers to function, including cloud hosting and database services (Supabase), subscription management (RevenueCat and Apple’s App Store), and where applicable, web-based payment processors. These providers process data only as needed to deliver the service.
Data retention and deletion
We keep your records for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by emailing us at the address below. We will delete your data within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain it by law.
Children’s privacy
STRtax is intended for adults managing rental properties and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
A note on tax
STRtax organizes your records into a report for your CPA or tax professional. STRtax does not provide tax advice and does not file tax returns.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above.
